Really Tiny iPods

I got my new toy today - a 4GB iPod nano (white). These little gems were introduced yesterday, and I think they really surprised a lot of people. I never imagined there would be such a diminutive iPod with color screen and spacious flash drive. The iPod nano is about 80% of the size of a business card, the thickness of six credit cards, and is less than the weight of eight quarters. It comes in two capacities: 2GB ($199) or 4GB ($249). See movie here.

The 4GB iPod nano holds 1,000 songs, or 25,000 photos. The sound is just as good as any other iPod, and the color screen is small but crisp and bright. I have one complaint, though - USB is the ONLY connection type for transferring music and photos to the iPod nano. What happened to Firewire connectivity? iPod nanos use USB 2.0 which none of my Macs have. Transfer over USB 1.1 takes absolutely forever and I get impatient. I think Apple is trying to please Windows users. Oh well, minor niggle. I need someone to make an iSkin case soon for protection.

Today, a miracle happened - after two years of me extolling the virtues of iPod to my coworker Chiu, he actually bought a black iPod nano. The reason I was shocked is that with Chiu, no MP3 player was ever good enough for him. Many people at work cannot wait to see mine when I bring it in tomorrow. I think this is going to be one hot-selling gadget.
