Musings on a Thursday Night When I Have Nothing Else to Do

It's been a week or two since I last wrote, so I thought maybe I should say what's going on with me. My job is sending me to Bremerton, Washington to work on an aircraft carrier for about three weeks. I'm very much looking forward to it, especially the part where I'll get to visit my cousin, Rocco, and his family in Seattle. I've been training for a 10K race in LA, but I'll be on travel during that time, so POOP! I have to miss the race.

This weekend is Todd's 30th birthday. He's up visiting his family, and will see me later this weekend. I gave him his gift last night. I've been buttering him up the past few days - telling him it might be the most exciting gift he's ever gotten. We're going sky diving! Todd's talked about jumping out of a plane a lot lately (not what you think!) so I'm finally helping him make it happen. I'm probably just as excited as Todd.

What are gas prices where you live? A gallon of regular costs upwards of $2.80 here in Southern California. I'm tired of paying so much for gas, and it's actually changing the way I commute. I've been riding my bike to work almost every day. I'm dying to buy a Vespa motorscooter. There's this awesome Vespa Granturismo (GT200) that came out last year, and it's the fastest, most powerful Vespa ever made. It's fine for short jaunts on the highway too, as it can go up to 80mph. What's more is that it'll get 70 miles per gallon and I'll be driving an Italian scooter made by the most prestigious and classic scooter company in the world. Let's hope I can work lots of overtime while I'm in Washington.

The second weekend in October is going to be very neat indeed. It's the all-chapter conference for Great Outdoors, and my chapter is hosting it at Cachuma Lake. It's Western-themed, and we're having a real cowboy come to teach us to line dance. There's also a chili cook-off and other fun stuff... can't wait!

OK, time to hit the hay. Ya'll come back now, y'hear?
